The Grito Rock latin journey starts in February

With hundreds of participating cities, the 14th edition brings culture and resistance, going beyond the Latin American continent narrative

Hundreds of producers are already working to launch the festival in their cities and dates will be distributed between 5 February and 30 April. Registration for producers are open and available on the Grito Rock’s site in Portuguese, Spanish and English.

The carnival period marks again the beginning of the Grito Rock festival, which this year brings all the potential of the Latin America to the festival, with new partners from various different locations. Marked by the collaborative logic and integration between the producers, the festival has already launched several names in the independent music scene and enters in 2016 expanding its connection between the participating cities of the event.

To reinforce the event’s resistance character, the new Grito Rock design connects with the conceptual work of one of the greatest artists from Latin America, the Argentine Leon Ferrari, one of the five most provocative and important artists of the world according to The New York Times, also responsible for working the concept of intolerance using controversial and current issues. The Grito Rock narrative inspires and breathes in León, bringing every opportunity in the regions where the festival is held. Jovial and daring at the same time, to represent the fight and the Latin blood, and this resistance in the act of experiencing the culture around all the world territory, with a strong presence even in the smaller and inner cities, year after year.

The 14th edition of the Grito Rock brings a period of new possibilities, where the options are expanded even further to allow new event formats and diverse and creative arrangements that can be used in places like small performance venues, to big stages and public spaces. Among the attractions, bands and musicians of all rhytms, as well as theater, visual arts, dance, fashion and literature artists.

In order to facilitate the movement of the artists, the festival retains its tradition of creating routes that facilitate tours, by linking cities receiving the Grito Rock and which can engage with various bands and groups. The artists who are interested in composing the festival’s program will be selected by the producers through the Toque no Brasil (TNB) platform, which will disclose the vacancy rate in the cities where the event will occur.

Held by Fora do Eixo with the support of Toque no Brasil and financed by Fora do Eixo Card, every year the Grito Rock adds dozens of new producers. In order to democratize access to information and facilitate the production of each event, the Grito Rock offers booklets, tutorials and campaigns in the area of ​​production, communication, sustainability and formation. All content is available to the producers and creates communication channels between them, aiming at strengthening a global network of music.

Historic

After the beggining of the integrated editions in 2007, Grito Rock has grown exponentially and in 2011 reached the milestone of 130 cities in eight countries, moving 2000 bands and 200,000 spectators. In the tenth edition, in 2012, were 205 participating cities, 37% more compared to 2011, involving the direct participation of 700 cultural producers in 15 different countries. Finally, in 2014, gaining global scale, the festival reached more than 300 cities and 35 countries, with editions in several countries in Latin America, North America, Europe and Africa.

Fora do Eixo

Fora do Eixo is a network of culture and communication that brings together groups and partners spread in about 300 cities. In ten years of experience, it spurred the creation of dozens of projects that stimulated the development of other networks, such as the Universidade das Culturas, Banco das Culturas, Rede Brasil de Festivais, Mídia NINJA and the Grito Rock.

Grito Rock

Without owners andor master sponsors, the Grito Rock is a collaborative festival, based on open technologies. In 2016 it takes place in the period from February 5 to April 30. Independent producers can sign up to participate and perform an edition in their own city. The colaborative format allows that each year more and more producers can share their experiences and strengthen the supply chain of local music while creating connections globally.

Toque no Brazil (TNB)

Brazilian website and music network with the objective of connecting bands, musicians and producers through a platform that brings together events, projects and festivals. All vacancies for the Grito Rock 2016 festivals are managed by Toque no Brazil, where the producer can register their event and offers places for bands to sign up.
